Due to its easy preparation, it is possible to re-hydrate it both with cold water for the preparation of salads and taboulé, and with hot water for the most traditional recipes. Two students have placed humidity and temperature sensors inside the container on the lorry which transports the couscous. When the lorry come back to the leaving port, the students have extract and analyse the data.

Cous Cous Fest San Vito Lo Capo
The Cous Cous Fest, the most important couscous event worldwide, takes place every September since 1997. The event has chosen to join forces with Bia and entrust the quality of its tastings to the firm couscous. Bia supplies all the couscous semolina for the event: more than 7 tons be used during the international contest, food talks and public tasting events. As part of the literacy and education strategies within the Cous Cous Fest, Bia also runs children’s workshops to teach them about couscous, and cooking shows led by famous chefs who present imaginative yet simple recipes.

Couscous is a healthy, nutritious and easily digestible food. Its virtues include being a cheap and eco-friendly dish. To prepare couscous it is not necessary to use electricity or gas. Precooked couscous can be prepared using a small amount of water at room temperature, without any kind of energy consumption. What’s more, unlike pasta, the water used for cooking is not thrown away, which is another saving.
